Christmas Tree 2013

Hi everyone,
My favorite time of the year I would have to say is Christmas. We entertain a lot at our home but something about the Holiday season that we are all more cheerful. The house looks more welcoming too with our holiday decorations. With that being said, I have seen many posts on Facebook of my friends sharing pictures of their Christmas tree so I decided to share too. However, I know many of my friends do not have Facebook so I thought it would be fair to share with you here too.

Thank you for stopping by.

Weight Loss Journey Update Month 2

Hi everyone!

I am a couple of days late posting my update here, however, July 30th marks month 2 of my weight loss journey.
In July I decided to give myself mini goals instead of trying to work on getting rid of a certain amount
of weight by a certain time. I just do not want to fail and fall back to my old habits. So what I decided to do is give myself 10% goals... get rid of 10% of my weight. I calculated that I have to get rid of 26 lbs. based on 10% of what I weighed on my last weight loss journey entry from June 30, 2013.
I did struggle with exercise this month. However, I know I burned calories with the major organizing/de cluttering I have been doing and I manage to continue to walk around the park during my lunch. I also make it a must not to eat past 7p.m. and continue to drink lots of water.
I am so happy to share with you all that this month alone I was able to get rid of 8.5 lbs! I am down a total of 15 lbs so far!!!! Yay! I have no idea how this was possible considering I did not exercise much but it happened. However, I do have to thank God for placing an amazing man who is my husband in my path. He has been a true supporter and cheers me on this journey. =)  Now I only have 17.5 lbs. more to go to reach my first 10% goal. My weight loss journey continues.....

Weight Loss Journey Update

Today marks a month on my journey to losing weight and getting healthy. I jumped on this with the mentality that it would be easy cause I have done this before with little effort yet seeing results.  However, I have forgotten that I have gotten a little older and my body is beginning to change. What use to work for me before does not work the same now... The first couple of weeks have been a great struggle. I went 2 straight years crafting  participating in challenges, hops, swaps all while working full time and running an on-line store and unable to get some exercise squeezed in my busy schedule. Where did that lead me today?  I packed on an additional 20 lbs on top of my already over weight body. Not good... this has caused healthy issues that I should be concerned of. I am borderline diabetic, borderline high cholesterol, swollen ankles and feet, horrible back pains and breathing problems. Of course I had to knock some sense into myself and stop being lazy. So what did I do? Well I had to make changes...small changes but I know results will be seen. I cut down on sugar intake...replaced sugar with Splenda. I have to have my cup of coffee in the morning but I cut down to only one 12oz cup opposed to 3 12oz cups. I do not drink Coke anymore. Water is my choice of drink now. For breakfast I will have a 8oz cup of cheerios and 8oz cup of 2% milk, mid morning snack is greek yogurt, lunch is Healthy's Choice Country Vegetable soup and any Healthy's Choice, Smart Ones or Lean Cuisine meal that is no more than 300 cal and minimum 4g of fiber, mid afternoon snack a fruit and dinner would be vegetables and protein. I make sure to get exercise everyday and Sunday will be my rest day. There is a lovely park across the street from where I work. It is about a 15 min. walk around. Every day after I have my lunch I walk across the street and around the park and come back to the office. In rain or shine I am out there getting my steps in. After work I alternate days one day I walk with the family for a mile about and hour walk and the next day I am on my elliptical for 20 min. and so on... I get about 5 hours of exercise a week. Not bad, huh? So how am I feeling? I feel great! I am feeling pumped to continue this journey. I get impatient when I am sitting trying to chill cause my body just wants to keep on moving. Heck, I am getting impatient now writing this. LOL! So far I have gotten rid of 6 lbs. My goal is to get rid of a total of 40 lbs. I say "get rid of" cause I don't want to say "lose" cause then that means it can be found and I do not want to find excess weight. I want if gone like good riddance gone. So my journey continues to month 2....keep you posted.

Dress Form Stick Pin Cushion

Hello my beautiful friends,

Today I would like to share with you a project I had mentioned to you all in my last post where I had said I used my sewing machine. The project in question is a beautiful dress form stick pin cushion I had sewn using the Fabric Quarters  that you can get at JoAnn's and a pattern I found through YouTube (I will post the links below). I had made it for my swap partner Ana Llanes on YouTube. We were to make a stick pin cushion and 15 stick pins. Here is a picture of the finished cushion....

I just love it! Yellow is Ana's favorite color so I had to be sure to use that color for this project. If you click on the photo to enlarge you will see that the fabric has a beautiful pattern. I took advantage of  the pattern to add small pearls and acrylic rhinestone in the center of the design. I also used trims from my stash. She has an adorable flower on her that I made and I gave her a pearl necklace with a cameo pendant. I had added rhinestone chain around the cameo. She stands tall on a glass candle stick holder I had purchased from the Dollar Tree and on her neck there is an acrylic door pull I had picked up in the $2 bin at Michael's. She was pretty easy to make so I can't wait to make more in other colors.

Happy Mother's Day!

Hello my beautiful people,

I want to take this moment to wish those that are mommy's or soon to be mommy's a very Happy Mother's Day! I hope you are enjoying this special day either crafting, spending time with the family or just relaxing. =) Hubby took me out for breakfast this morning so my day started out nice. Gotta love my hubby cause he is just so good to me....one of my kind and I just love him so much.

So I got home and started working on a card. I felt inspired and motivated to craft. I decided to use the beautiful paper from Graphic 45 "The Secret Garden". I have seen the movie when I was younger and love it.  This is what I made...

The base I used the envelopes from Recollections Corrugated Cards that I had purchased from Michael's. Used an image from the collection and I embellished it with one of my handmade flowers, acrylic butterfly and some flat back pearls. I just love how it turned out! Inside of the envelope I made a pull out to write my little note. I used the other half of the paper and matted it with cream color card stock. It came out very simple. Here is a pic ....

Isn't it so pretty! I made it for a wonderful lady I am doing a swap with over on YouTube. I hope she likes it. Well if you want to know more on the materials I used to make this beautiful card just click on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFs7qx4p2I

Acrylic Flowers

Happy Sunday!

Well I have been a busy little bee crafting this weekend.  I was able to get a lot done. I have been working on a couple of projects for a swap which I had to pull out my sewing machine for.  Both the sewing machine and I are a little rusty, LOL! But after a couple of tries I love how my project came out. Sorry for the tease but I will share what I made at a later time. =) However, I will share a couple of acrylic flowers I made using Teardop Tags from Traditions Beads found at Hobby Lobby. They look like this:

Here is what I made using the white tags and the pink tags:

To make the white flower I used 7 tags and for the pink one I used 11 tags. I had made these for my altered birdcage for the Scrapping Queens of 2013 Pocket Full of Posies YouTube Hop. Well I received a request on how I made these adorable flowers. You can see how I put them together by clicking on the video below:

That is all for now. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Thrift Find - Altered Wooden Umbrella

Hi everyone!

So a couple of weeks ago I visited a thrift store. I was able to find a couple of items to alter. Tammy known on YouTube as sscrafter1 is hosting a challenge named "Altered Thrifted Find Challenge".  The challenge is to alter a new item we picked up recently (after announcing her video) at a thrift store, goodwill, flea market or at a garage sale and alter it. I decided to enter the umbrella for the challenge. Although I did not take a before shot however if you click on the video below you will see how it looked before....

After removing the old material. I gave it a good wipe then I painted the wood with white Gesso and brown acrylic paint. I did some sanding to give it a worn look. Then added beautiful pink brocade material I had picked up from the Goodwill too a few months ago. It was once a little girl's jacket but now it has another use. LOL! I then added some beautiful mauve color pom pom trim, mini rossette trim which I had added ivory color flat back pearls on every other flower on the top rim and bottom rim. I also used ivory color fused pearl trim on both rims then finished off by accenting the top of the handle with delicate laces, pearl trim and beautiful paper flowers.

Here is a pic on how it looks all beautified....

I altered this item to go with my Asian themed dinning room. The beautiful pink brocade material screamed Asian. I just love how it turned out!

Scrapping Queens of 2013 - YT Hop - Pocket Full of Posies

Hello to you all,

I know it has been a while but what better way to come back to blogging by showing a beautiful project I have created for a YouTube Hop.

I am so excited to have participated in this month's Scrapping Queens of 2013 YouTube Hop. The beautiful hostess' of Scrapping Queens are Betty (Scrappassion01), Markisha (Staplem1) and Tmika (Scrapdaworld). I was invited by Tmika and it has been a great honor to have participated. Thank you Tmika!

There is an awesome line up of talented ladies who have created beautiful projects for this month's theme "Pocket Full of Posies". We had to create a project that is full of spring elements and include lots of flowers. So I decided to alter a wooden and wire birdcage that I had purchased from the thrift store a couple of years ago. Here is a before picture:

I decided to paint it all with white Gesso and added some texture (a technique I learned from a fellow YouTuber) and added lots of flowers. I also added accents in the form of a pretty little pink bird perched on top of the cage over looking her little nest inside. You can click on the video below for a detail explanation.....

I hope you enjoyed the video. Here are pictures of the altered birdcage:

*Back View*

I just absolutely love it! She is sitting beautifully on top of my end table in my living room.

Thank you again to Betty, Markisha and Tmika for inviting me to participate in this hop! I had so much fun creating this.
